PlLux05 - Thrash Cans thrash cans, sounds, LED animations, public space, 2005 Production: Automata Description: Interactive sound installation in thrash cans located in the public space. Project PlasmaLux05 - Thrash Cans is set up as and Interactive sound installation in public space. Whenever a passer-by activates a sensor hidden beneath the top of the trash can, the sound and light diode are activated and a sound accompanied with the light intervention emerges from the thrash cans. The project was installed in august 2005 in the center of Ljubljana in five trash cans at one of the most frequent locations in old town. Sounds emerging from trash cans were both aggressive and subtle. Two of them were aggressively loud and the rest were so subtle that people were actually leaning toward the trash cans to hear them when they saw the sudden light appearing from the least expected space - trash cans. Each trash can was equipped with built-in plastic holders containing a sensor, light diode, programmed chip, a CD player and two small loudspeakers. Motto of the project, Transgressive-Sanitary-Synthetic-Corporate-Spectracle, is appearing both as a sound (computer generated singing voice) form one of the thrash cans and on the accompanying work played on the LED screens located in the city center.
